Page contents What is BCAG NSW's media role? With which organisations does BCAG NSW work?
Breast Cancer Action Group NSW Inc (BCAG NSW), formed in October 1997, is an organisation for people who are, in any way, affected by breast cancer. The Governor of NSW, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, AC, is sole Patron of Breast Cancer Action Group NSW. [top]
Our mission is to provide a "voice" for breast cancer affected people - wherever decisions about breast cancer are made - within areas of Government, health service provision, research, support and care services. To provide this "voice", we train volunteer members as consumer representatives who, when appointed to "a seat at the table", are equipped to make meaningful contributions. Through its quarterly newsletters, members are kept up to date on new developments in breast cancer issues and treatment, find out about our events and can share experiences and information. [top]
We work in partnership, at all levels, with all major stakeholders in the business of breast cancer. We work with partners who include: NSW Department of Health, the Cancer Institute NSW, The Cancer Council NSW, Area Health Services, National Breast Cancer Centre, NSW Breast Cancer Institute, National Breast Cancer Foundation, scientific, advisory and policy-making committees, state politicians, plus selected hospitals and professional colleges. We also contribute to discussion and debate at the national level. [top] |
