BCAG NSW's achievements are aimed at making a positive difference
to the breast cancer experience of people now, and those who will inevitably
follow.
Consumer Representation

BCAG NSW currently holds positions on boards and committees at all levels
of decision-making about breast cancer
Consumer Advocacy & Science Training since
1999
- Courses held with
National Breast Cancer Centre and now with The Cancer Council NSW
Access to new drugs
- Federal Minister for Health directed public funding for advanced cancer drug
Herceptin (2001). BCAG NSW created community awareness via the media and
helped produce 3,000 letters to politicians. Herceptin for early breast
cancer is now on the agenda.

- Obtained funding from NSW Health Department, the NSW BC and private donors
- Launched August 2002
- Distribution to GP's, specialists, treatment centres, Women's Health Centres,

know, ask and expect, published with the assistance of the Health
Care Complaints Commission, second edition 2001.

NSW Breast Cancer Advocate Wins inaugural NSW Consumer Protection Award
- 11 Dec 2001, Sally Crossing, founder and Chair of the Breast Cancer
Action Group NSW.
- Breast Cancer Action Group NSW Wins Two Commendations
(From
media release, 11 Dec 2001) "Breast Cancer Action Group NSW received
High Commendations in the Community Organisation and Special Interest
Group categories of the above Awards. BCAG NSW was also the only health-related
organisation honoured by these Awards."
NSW Breast Cancer Advocate appointed AM
- Sally Crossing was appointed a Member of the Order of
Australia (AM) in June 2005 for her services to the community, especially
relating to the establishment of the Breast Cancer Action Group NSW and
Cancer Voices NSW. [top]
